Hamilton Island Airport is the main air hub for the Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef.

You can fly direct to Hamilton Island from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Qantas. 
You will need to book directly with the airlines to book your flight to Hamilton Island.

Also known as the Great Barrier Reef Airport, the airport is the launch pad for scenic flights to the reef and magnificent Whitehaven Beach. Hamilton Island Airport is a convenient five minute trip to the resort accommodation, shops and restaurants.

Is there public transport available to and from Hamilton Island Airport?

Please view our Transfers page, you will find all the information you require regarding how to get to or from the Airport.

Does Hamilton Island Airport have more than one terminal?

Hamilton Island Airport only has one terminal. The terminal is only a few meters away from our check-in hall.

How early do I need to be at the airport before my flight?

Most domestic airlines require you to be at the check in counter at least 45 minutes before departure. We encourage you to read all the available information provided to you by your airline as they will advise their preferred times.

Is the Airport open 24 hours?

No. The Airport is open from 8.00 – 16.00 every day however these hours may be extended due to delays. For security reasons, the Airport is closed at 16:00 and all guests are kindly ask to leave the terminal building. Cruise Whitsundays passengers awaiting their vessel are welcomed to wait in the airport’s shaded courtyard area.

Does the Airport offer free WiFi?

Yes. Throughout the Terminal building and it’s surrounding you can connect to our free, secure and fast WiFi.

Is there an ATM at the Airport?

No, there are no ATM or money withdrawing facilities at the Airport.
