Getting Around

Commercial flights

The only Whitsundays Island with its own commercial airport, Hamilton Island Airport services direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns operated by Virgin Australia, Qantas and East Air.

Ferries & Connections

Passenger ferry services run between the Port of Airlie and Hamilton Island Marina and Airport daily. It’s recommended to arrive at the terminal at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure to allow time for ticketing, parking, luggage check-in and boarding. Cruise Whitsundays’ vessels are comfortable and air-conditioned, with onboard screens featuring information about the region, and bars offering coffee, drinks and snacks for purchase.

Passenger ferry services operate to and from Hamilton Island Marina and Airport, with a comfortable 60-minute crossing from Airlie Beach. Ferries depart from two convenient mainland locations Port of Airlie and Shute Harbour, just south of Airlie Beach — offering multiple services throughout the day. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the terminal.
